Asian Kaleidoscope Month (AKM) 2012 is proud to offer its first ever scholarship awards to recognize exemplary students at the University of Florida who demonstrate excellence in academia, leadership, community service, and involvement in the Asian American community. With funding from Lollicup, three scholarships will be awarded this year:

(+) first place $250,

(+) second place $150,

(+) and third place $100.

Can you bust a move? Serenade a crowd? Drop a beat? Speak to our hearts through spoken word? Or do you have any other spectacular talent genetics has blessed you with? Well, show us your skills through AASU’s Got Talent! Show. This is a chance to brighten up everyone’s lives for a night to showcase the local talent we have right here at the University of Florida. Help by putting Asian Americans in the spotlight by taking a leap of faith to give back to our community by sharing our passions. We will push your talent to the test in this competition! Now sit back, relax, apply to be a performer, or an emcee and then… We’ll illuminate the night through our shining smiles, and our amazing acts.

Kaleidoscope is the month long celebration of Asian and Asian American culture, history, and heritage at the University of Florida. This is the fourth annual AASU’s Got Talent!, which aims to showcase a variety of talents from students in the Asian and Asian American community. This year AASU’s Got Talent! is scheduled on the evening of Friday, 11/2/2012. All students of any ethnic origin are encouraged to apply.

Fashion Show Model 2012 Application

Every year during AKM Fashion Show, up and coming Asian American fashion designers are invited to showcase their collections giving UF students and the Gainesville community opportunities to
model. In the past years we have brought Asian Americans designers from Project Runway Season 7, Jay Nicolas Sario, and Thai Nguyen, a couture and ready-to-wear designer from California.

This year we will be featuring Asian American designer from various scopes of the fashion scene.

Anybody and everybody at the University of Florida and Gainesville Community is encouraged to apply!

MARK YOUR CALENDERS! The applications will be open until 9/19/2012 at 11:59pm and Casting Calls will be on 9/20/2012 and 9/21/2012 from 6pm to 9pm!

Mr. and Miss AASU Pageant Contestant 2012 Application

The Mr. and Miss AASU Pageant Show has been part of Asian Kaleidoscope Month (AKM) since its inception. The pageant features motivated and hardworking individuals within the Asian American Student Union (AASU) at the University of Florida, and during the show, these contestants will exhibit their individuality in their talent, culture and evening wear. This year’s pageant will be Monday, October 8, 2012 in the Grand Ballroom of the J. Wayne Reitz Union. The winners of Mr. & Miss AASU 2012 will each receive a scholarship award and will be the face of AKM’s featured philanthropy. If you are interested in participating in this year’s pageant, please read everything and fill out the application below by 11:59 PM on Friday, September 14, 2012.
